Suggestions are flowing in from the membership and many are adding comments. Please keep contributing your comments and stay positive. Quick update points are
-Tomorrow, the BOG will be meeting to discuss how to proceed with communicating better with the TAC membership as represented through the MABT.
-We are encouraging the BOG to have a real Townhall meeting and get people a chance not just to make suggestions but to get involved. We would like to see this by the end of July.
Members Comments-
-A member from the finance industry suggested that the current TAC is “much like we have built this Tokyo American Club Taj Mahal that cannot sustain itself. All the governance systems need to be rethought and brought to date”. The TAC needs to be run like a business that is competitive.

Making A Better TAC (MABT)
When you have an engine failure at altitude you have a fighting chance of getting on the ground in one piece and walking away. At 100ft on takeoff it is a different story…there is no turning back…proceed straight ahead and look for some open ground. Chances of survival are much reduced but better than trying to return to the airfield behind you.
A lesson in aviation that is totally applicable to the position the club has put itself in. An engine failure with no altitude to trade off for speed and distance.
The balance sheet is totally impaired. How can we attract new members without full disclosure?
The club has a negative net worth of anything between USD 40-50m. Auditors are questioning whether it is a ‘going concern’.
The BOG and the Management are the problem not part of the solution. They promised to reduce the salaries at the club from USD 20m to USD 13m during the time at Takanawa (taken directly from the LRPC prospectus). This was not done.
They have no credibility and should go immediately.
To delay this would mean the membership will have to suffer more obfuscation as human nature decrees that they will all seek to save their reputations with time wasting self-justification.
The only way to save the club is to forget about small petty issues, forget about what has happened and focus totally on the task at hand…how to land the plane in about 5 seconds with the minimal loss of life.
The club must be turned into a business immediately. Cut costs dramatically and outsource most functions.
The financier Metlife must be brought on board right away.
It is in their best interests to operate the TacMahal as a club and utilise the 3,000+ members to mitigate their position. The purpose built structure has no other realisable earning potential or value,
The membership has nothing to lose as the equity component has been squandered.
Focus, focus and focus on the big picture. Act swiftly and incisively. Some people’s reputations (good people all) will suffer, but that is the price that will have to be paid to save the club.
Thank you for the input. We have updated the post. Please check it out when you get a moment.
Unity and purpose will make a better TAC
Great job with this site, good to keep the members informed. Just on one note you had mentioned in the previous post “Tac does everything in house and outsources nothing to keep the costs competitive”.
A couple of months ago I complaint about the smell of the towels that are used for showering in the locker rooms and suggested the laundry use better softener or better detergeant. The staff at the recreation desk said that they will tell the vendor as all of their laundry is outsourced all the towels, even food and beverage napkins linens etc???? is this true. You may want to follow up on this one, but appreciate you putting this site together to keep members informed and to make a better TAC.
thanks again…
