TAC Elections: President: Recommendations

Here at MABT, we’ve been poring over the candidate data trying to figure who deserves your vote this time around. We’re still trying to figure out how to insert a poll in here to get your feedback – in the meantime, hit us with your comments!

We will be asking all candidates to respond to a survey on their views on the key issues. Stay tuned!

[Naturally, all the opinions expressed here are solely those of the authors and do not represent the views of TAC or (obviously) the candidates!.]

Here’s our quick take on El Presidente:

Nominee:Lance LeeRod Nussbaum
Recommendation

No way!

Yes way!

Principal says …Doesn’t play well with other boys.New to the school. Still making friends.
Wagtail Comment:Sorry, Lance, but you signed the new GM contract. That’s got people angry. And if you sup with The Devil, you have to accept that sometimes the chalice is poisoned. And that 3% charge on cash payments … Say goodnight, Dick!.The gossip says Rod is closely connected tied to the status quo. Even so, his policy statement hits the right buttons in terms of the key issues: strategy, governance, and transparency.Still, the proof will be in the pudding!
One-Liner:Problem with Lance is it’s always someone else’s fault.A vote for Rod at least gives the Club a chance.

  1. I agree with this recommendation but one of your others is dead wrong.

Per Knudsen is NOT someone we need on the Board of Governors. He defends Bumgardner! I also had a recent converstaion with him and was startled to find out how little he knows about the finances of the Club! Gove hima thimbs down ans top the b.s. about his “inner viking”, more like his “inner moron”!

  2. Terry

    Agree 100%.

There also needs to be some commitment to allocating entrance and transfer fees Y878m in 2011 budget to loan principal repayment. 1% amortisation of the loan is the acknowledgement the club has borrowed recklessly and is incapable of cutting it’s cloth to deal with reality.

The cry will come out that it will destroy the EBITDA and the DSCR numbers.

That well may be the case, so allocate 50% for the next few years.

Without substantial reductions in payroll (promised in the redevelopment prospectus in April 2006 signed by Dan Thomas) the numbers simply don’t cut it.

  3. Greg’s idea

“focus on the BOG approved Budget for 2011 and reject it by voting NO”

is intriguing and well worth consideration.

  4. I must be living in some parallel Universe.

For TAC it is business as usual if one looks at the 2011 budget. No reduction in payroll of any meaningful magnitude.

As of balance day end 2009/2010 FY the club and all of you have a negative USD 2.5m equity in the club.

I look at Dan’s manifesto and he claims the Club is in sound financial health. Please give me some of what he is smoking.

A fictitious EBITDA along with the smoke and mirrors.

A GM who has a new contract and attitude to go with it.

With the number of ‘so-called’ finance people around or running…surely there is someone who can see what any sane person can see.

Just as the Tea Party will save the Mother Ship so will blind ignorance and hubris save TAC.

    God help us all.

    Learn Mandarin.

  5. From our records this was agreed to by Lance Lee at the last meeting. Everyone seems to be asking what happened?

Meeting people in the lobby is pretty much a waste of time as it becomes a one by one affair. Maybe a good time to email Lance?

We are working on a complete scorecard of all the candidates right now so you will get the MABT recommendations with or without a meeting.

  6. At the last THM I believe there was agreement to arrange a meeting with the BOG candidates, to be run by a moderator, where members would have the opportunity to ask questions. However, it looks like this may not happen because the TAC website carries no mention of the meeting, but does inform members of two opportunities to greet the candidates in the Adult Lobby.

  7. The BOG is a staggered Board to prevent a change in course. Members should focus on the BOG approved Budget for 2011 and reject it by voting NO.
