The club leadership has been doing a fantastic job of protecting the members. There is no doubt the volunteer leadership as well as the paid management have put a lot of time and effort into managing around the Wuhan Virus Threat.
Our Tokyo governor and national Prime Minister have decided that we need another month of destroying small businesses, restaurants, hotels, and eliminating more jobs. The TAC leadership has decided to extend the so called State Of Emergency to the club. Members continue to pay dues for a couple months now with no access to our club.
Is this the best decision? Are there other things that can be done? Is it better to keep the club closed to be safe? The opinions of membership may vary, but this is your chance to make suggestions. Please use the comment forms below. Positive, classy suggestions (like our membership) are welcome.
Reopen to members and staff who do not have pre-existing conditions. Very close to zero mortality risk in this population. If not, come play golf. Courses are open and full.
I don’t envy our Club’s leadership in trying to balance member health and safety with member satisfaction.
It would be nice to know what, if any, limited opening options are being considered by the BOG.
I know of golf clubs and gyms that are operating, so at least a partial re-opening would not be without precedent.
Has a gym/pool reservation system being considered to allow limited access to the fitness facilities?
You guys go ahead. I’m good with waiting a little longer.
I’m happy paying my membership dues; in fact I’ve been paying JPY100,000 per month because I think they’re doing it tough.
If we’re going to elect/hire leadership, then we need to let them exercise that responsibility.
I think the club should be reopened now, at least with limited access/service to start with.
The Tokyo American Club should be reopened now. Limited access/service for a temporary period can be put in place if such restrictions are deemed necessary.
